What is rope access?

The use of rope access is a recognised safe method of working at height where ropes and associated equipment are used to gain access to and from the work position and to safely carry out the tasks intended.

Advantages

The main advantages of using rope access methods mainly lies in the safety and speed with which engineers can get to or from difficult locations in order to carry out their work, often more cost effective than costly scaffolding, mobile elevated work platforms etc and often with minimal impact on other operations.

Purpose

The use of rope access is a recognised safe method of working at height where ropes and associated equipment are used to gain access to and from the work position and to safely carry out the tasks intended.

The principal objective of utilising rope access, is to undertake the proposed work efficiently, with minimal accidents, incidents or dangerous occurrences.

Skills & Safety
In order to safeguard a safe system of work is maintained at all times, we ensure each project is suitably planned and documented risk assessments are under taken for each operation. By utilising skilled man power and supervision (IRATA trained) and the latest equipment currently available, we can ensure every project meets stringent safety standards.

Where is rope access Used?

There is a wide range of industries where rope access is used to successfully solve a multitude of access problems. Rope access is widely used in:

  • Petrochemical & power
  • Renewable energy i.e., wind turbines
  • Off shore oil & gas
  • The built environment i.e., high rise buildings & structures
  • Confined space
  • Natural environment i.e., rock face stabilisation
  • Industrial chimney maintenance
  • Telecommunications

Benefits of rope access

There are numerous benefits relating to adopting rope access methods:

  • Very cost effective in compression to scaffold installation
  • Speedy mobilisation & set up
  • Minimum disturbance & environmental impact
  • Often access can be gained to conventionally inaccessible locations
